Traditional Music Festival

April 12th – 14th 2019

A feast of traditional Irish music and dance, featuring famous musicians from near and far. The extensive programme includes an all star concert, session trails, music, song and dance workshops, a singing session, a céilí, sean-nós dancing workshops, street seisiún competitions and recitals.

Goitse, Live Ireland’s 2015 Trad Group of the Year, brings their contagiously energetic songs and tunes to West Cork for the first time, performing their only Irish concert this year in Ballydehob as headliners of this year’s Ballydehob Tradfest on Saturday, April 13th in Ballydehob Community Hall

This year’s headline concert on Sat 14th is one of Ireland’s most treasured traditional groups Danú who will be returning home from a tour of USA to perform in Ballydehob. Festival workshops take place on Saturday morning April 14th with Mairead Casey (fiddle), Conal O Gráda (flute), Clíona Halley (concertina) and Nell Ní Chronín (singing). The annual festival céilí with current All-Ireland Champions The Shandrum Céilí Band takes place on Sunday, April 15th at 3pm. We also have a superb line-up of musicians coming to play in our pub session trail.

The 11th annual Ballydehob Traditional Music Festival will headline Frankie Gavin and De Danann on Sunday April 1st. Other popular musical events include the Céilí with Shandrum Céilí Band, the three-day music session trail, many instrument workshops and a street session competition.
