Happy 102nd Birthday Nell
Members of Community Council presented Nell with a card & flowers. Nell celebrated her 102nd Birthday on Tuesday 1st March. Community Council are delighted that Nell will be our Grand Marshal for the 1st St. Patrick’s Day parade in Ballydehob on Thursday 17th. Ballydehob Community Council Weekly Private Lotto Draw:
Last draw 05/03/11, no.’s were 5, 24 & 30, Jackpot €1,400, No Winner. €50 Sadie c/o Billy Hegarty, €40 Patrick Swanton, €30 Paula & John Forde, €25 Kevin & Noreen Barry, €25 Lynn Whelton. Next draw on Saturday 12th March. Jackpot is €1,800 and the draw takes place in The Sandboat.

Silent Auction: Saturday night we raised €1200 for special classrooms dedicated to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Another €1000 or so will be collected during the week from people who placed the highest bid on their chosen pieces. We’re delighted with the turn out and appreciate everyone who came to support ASD Units in St Patrick’s NS and Rossa College. Thank you so much to the band Ikarumba! God you’re talented and generous!

Special Thanks and hugs to Noel and Christine Camier who’s gorgeous daughter has benefited from these special classrooms. Noel and Chris are inspirational parents and freely offered their time and knowledge which was integral to pulling this thing together.

Community Samba Band: Siobhan Heapes, Sally Smart and Caz Jeffreys are putting together a Community Samba Band. There will be a work-shop Saturday 12th March 10am – 1pm in the Community hall, you will learn a simple song with rhythms & movement to join in with the parade. Instruments & costumes provided. There will be a donation of €1 towards costs. Everyone welcome – old or young.

Parade: plans are nearing an end as St. Patrick’s Day approaches, there are many groups entered for the Parade, local and from afar. Anticipation is building as preparations are being finalized, with well over 20 groups dancing, singing & music, as well as vintage cars, tractors and horses from Ballycumisk Stables. All groups are asked to assemble @ top of Staball Hill from 11:30am. There will be refreshments served in the Youth Centre after the Parade.

We are asking anyone who can help out with stewarding for an hour or so on the day to please attend our final meeting on Monday 14th March @ 8:30pm in the Kitchen of the Community Hall or contact Martin Swanton 086 807 3182.

If anyone out there has or wants to dress up for the Parade in Clothes from the 1900, we are asking for assistance in locating clothes from this era, we have been kindly given a 120 year old shawl with thanks to Noelle Verling.

Annie’s Coffee Morning: Annie Barry has decided to host her coffee morning again this year for the Irish Cancer Society on Friday 25th March from 10-1pm in The Pothouse. As always all donations from baking, daffodils to money are very welcome. Last year saw Annie & her team donated a whopping €5,000 to the Irish Cancer Society. Annie would like to thank Seamus for the use of The Pothouse to host this very worthy cause. More information or to make a donation contact Annie on 028 37647 or 086 053 0430. Dog Foul: The Community Council have been contact by numerous members of the public and groups about the dog foul around the Community Field, playground and surrounding areas, please clean up after your dogs and dispose of correctly. Thank You.

New Website: Ballydehob Community Council are pleased to announce that it’s website www.ballydehob.ie will be re-designed over the next month or so, we will announce a launch date nearer the time.
