Balldehob Community Council Newsletter

ISSUE: June 2011

Ballydehob Community Council will be erecting a number of decorative street flower stands throughout the village soon. These stands will be located at the outer edge of the footpath and will give the village a well deserved face lift along with all the painting that is going on for the procession.

Since our last newsletter the resurfacing of the pier has taken place. Cork County Council provided half of the material with Ballydehob Community Council providing the other half. John Joe O’ Keeffe of Bantry plant hire provided free of charge a machine and labour for the spreading of the gravel and we thank John Joe very much for his community spirit as we also thank Billy Horgan of Cork County Council.

The essential work on the partially collapsed wall opposite the tennis court has also been completed. Coosheen Construction undertook the contract and did an excellent job. The work was funded fully by Ballydehob Community Council. I would like to remind our readers that Ballydehob Community Council shop is always looking for items to sell and your support for the shop is greatly appreciated.

The judges for the Tidy Towns Competition will be visiting the village any time now so I would urge everyone to make a great effort to keep the village free of litter and cigarette butts so that we can retain and hopefully improve Ballydehob’s marks for this years Tidy Towns competition.

Finally we in the Ballydehob Community Council would like to wish Roger Walton of Ballydehob Garden centre a very happy retirement. Roger has for a long number of years provided a great service to all his customers and we will Roger and Gay all the best for the future.

Martin Swanton, Chairperson, Ballydehob Community Council
