ISSUE: December 2011
Where has the year gone? Santa is on his way and will be arriving in Ballydehob on 18th December at 6.00 p.m. He will have lots of presents for all the boys and girls. At 7.00p.m. carol singing will take place at the Christmas tree followed by the blessing of the crib. After this refreshments will be provided at St. Mathias School followed by an ecumenical service at St. Mathias church at 8.00p.m. All welcome. Ballydehob’s semi-final of Mizen’s Got Talent took place in the Community hall on Sunday 27th November. A great crowd attended and the turnout was great with five finalists going forward representing Ballydehob in the final which will take place on Saturday 17th in Schull Community College at 8pm. Well done to all who took part. The 5 finalists are, Frank O’ Driscoll, Anita Barry, Elle Hutchinson, Niamh Connolly, KLM Group Kate O’Mahony, Lauren O’ Sullivan, Mykaela Crowley. We would ask everyone to attend the final in Schull and support our finalists. We wish them the very best of luck. The November monthly hamper in Ballydehob Community Council Shop was won by Mr. Pat Hickey, Skeaghanore West, Ballydehob. Many congratulations to Pat. We have a beautiful Christmas Hamper full of goodies which will be drawn Christmas week. Tickets are €2.00 each and are available in The Community Council shop at Main Street. On behalf of Ballydehob Community Council I would like to wish everyone a very happy and peaceful Christmas and all the best for 2013.

Thought for the month

Ballydehob Community Care:
A great afternoon was had by all at the Annual Christmas dinner by Ballydehob Community Care, with over 60 attendances it was a busy afternoon for all the helpers. Music was provided by Noel Shannon & Donie Davis to the delighted audience, lots of songs & poems from the audience members. A big thank you goes out to the Ballydehob Community Care Committee for all they do throughout the year for our Senior Citizens with their monthly social events which include dinners, bingo, cards & not to forget their outings & lots more, it is an invaluable service in Ballydehob so thank you to all & keep up the good work. Merry Christmas to you all.

Ballydehob Charity Shop
The charity shop in the Community Hall will close on Saturday 17th December & re-open in February. The Committee would like to say a huge thank you to all the volunteers for all their help throughout the year. Also a big thank to all of you who donated and also our customers for your loyalty & generosity. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas & a safe and Peaceful new year in 2012.
Ballydehob Community Hall Committee
would like to say an enormous thank you to all of our customers, another successful year. It’s been a busy year from jam packed weekly classes, parties, concerts, buffet, wedding & competitions. As a committee we work hard to maintain the hall for all of these events and secure it for future generations to come. Merry Christmas & a Peaceful New Year for 2013.
Steve’s Ocean 7 Challenge
Steve seen here receiving a cheque from Chairperson Martin Swanton on behalf of Community Council of €1,000 to help Steve on the next leg of his challenge. As previously reported Steve intends to travel back to Hawaii on 1st January 2013 to complete Ocean no. 5, we will be following his progress with excitement, we will keep you all updated on his progress. Best of luck Steve, we will be cheering you on, all the way.
ICA Christmas Market
happening this Friday 16th December from 11am to 12:30pm in the Community Hall. Festive home baking, table decorations, crafts and gifts will be for sale. There will also be a raffle for 2 Hampers which will be of local produce & baking. Profits from this market will be shared between the ICA designated charity & local groups. Come along for a little festive cheer & a complimentary cup of tea.
Community Council Office
Community Council office will close on Friday 23rd December and re-open on Wednesday 4th January.
