Ballydehob Community Council

Ballydehob Community Council

Ballydehob Community Council and Community Alert was formed in 1993 to help promote the interests of Ballydehob and surrounding area and is involved in many areas of local interest, including most recently the Twinning of Ballydehob with the French town of Cleden Cap Sizun.

Ballydehob Community Council is affiliated to the National Organisation called “Muintir na Tire” which was founded in 1931 by Cannon Hayes of Tipperary for self help and self reliance of communities in rural Ireland.

Your Community Council Members meet in the Old Bank every first Monday of the month to conduct business on behalf of the village.

Our primary means of financing comes through our weekly LOTTO draw. The monthly 50/50 DRAW raises funds specifically for the maintenance of the Old Bank, soon to be Ballydehob Tourist Office.  Tickets available in all participating businesses FOR €2 and €5 respectively. Results posted weekly on our Facebook page.

Ballydehob, the Gateway to the Mizen Peninsula in West Cork is the best of many worlds. It's rural charms, rich heritage and natural beauty epitomise the traditional Ireland that visitors love so much. It is also unabashedly and confoundingly modern in its diversity of people and trade. The area is well known for its artists, writers and alternative types. Now it is home to a growing number of innovators and trend setters, some who found it and couldn't leave, many who left and came back, and mostly those who held down the fort for the rest of us. Our home is rich in tradition, culture, music and craft nestled on Roaringwater Bay along the Wild Atlantic Way. Have we got a story for you! Pull up a stool.
